The Advertising Council has begun a "Campaign for Freedom," soliciting money and free creative work from American ad agency writers and designers to develop public service announcements (PSAs) that support the so-called "War on Terrorism" and encourage civilian participation in it.

Below is the email sent out on April 23 to ad agency presidents across the U.S. by Ad Council president and CEO Peggy Conlon:

Your opportunity to protect a really big idea is coming.

Soon, you will receive a package regarding the Ad Council's Campaign for Freedom - the ad community's ongoing contribution to the protection of freedom. Coming out of a multiple agency collaborative effort, directed by BBDO's Phil Dusenberry, the Ad Council is producing Public Service Announcements designed to inform, involve and inspire Americans to protect the biggest idea of all: freedom.

We need you to support this effort and help initiate an employee fundraising effort in your agency. The donations from your employees will be used specifically to help the Ad Council in their ongoing effort to provide PSA's that will let millions of Americans protect our cherished way of life.

When you receive the package, please take a few moments to read the information enclosed and please pass it along to the person in your organization who will initiate this fundraising effort.

They will find all the information and materials they need to initiate the program. This is an opportunity you don't want to miss. Please go to campaignforfreedom.org by clicking on

Freedom. It's a really big idea.

P.S. If you respond to this e-mail, further communications will come from Nancy Buttine at the Ad Council.

End of email message.

We can expect to see a slew of PSAs supporting the perpetual war on our TVs and possibly in movie theatres and on the radio this summer (starting in June). If you object to the Ad Council pressuring employees in agencies to create pro bono propaganda for the Terror War, email them about this at: AdCouncil@wd10.com.

Oh, and please don't buy War Bonds, either!
